Itis a 98 A4 1.8T, FWD, 5-Spd and has 235k miles on the clock. Engine consumes oil at a rate of 0.5~0.7 quart every 3000 miles. And this is going on at least for the last 30k miles..I only use Castrol syntec 5W-40 oil. The engine is smooth like butter at all speeds and there is no knocking/pinging or rattle.
